Why are we blogging?

We decided to document the design and development of this site because we thought that the process might be of interest not only to community revitalization practitioners but also to designers and developers working on social networking sites for other audiences.
Also, since one of the goals of Community Collab is to encourage the sharing of knowledge, why shouldn't we share how we're creating this site? If others find some techniques or ideas they can use, so much the better.
We even bought a few Flip video recorders to document meetings, post them on YouTube, and embed them here.
If you're involved in community revitalization, as a practitioner, funder, intermediary, or government policymaker, we encourage you to sign up to be a beta tester of the new site. The first beta release will be in July. We think you'll find it interesting and useful.
